SECRET PROJECT ROBOTART EXPERIMENTSecret Project Robot Art Experiment was founded in 2004 by a group of friends who produce, observe and interact with art as a way of life. The Gallery is a not for profit space located in the forrest of Monster Island- an art building- and represents the Mighty Robot A/V squad, HappyFun art group and Sound Artists Robot Death Cult. It is a 2000 square foot performance, and installation centered experimental space founded upon the idea that art should be fun.
Secret Project Robot offers dynamic and challenging programming while supporting the efforts of those interested in exploring art in a broader social context. The openings and events at Secret Project Robot are inclusive and overlap various media practices. Exhibitions will often include a musical counterpart, a performance or other elements that add to a more diverse appreciation of the arts.
At Secret Project Robot we stress the importance of the art party as a way to create an inclusive and tangible environment. We push every event beyond the norm, and compel visitors to explore art while also creating a space for them to interact and have a conversation-the idea is that art should be a platform for a continuos dialogue and a gallery should be a place that promotes this in a fun, new and interesting way.
To reinforce the idea, Secret Project Robot reaches out to the community and hosts bimonthly music showcases, in addition to monthly art openingings, and an annual block party, where bands play on the streets or in abandoned lots. Bands such as Lightning Bolt, Oneida, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, ExModels, The Liars, Golden Triangle, and Big A Little a have all played in recent years.Secret Project Robot is a place where art is taken seriously in so far as it helps create a world out side of bureaucracy and the mundane and hopefully inspires people to realize that culture can be interpreted through a multiplicity of simultaneously correct and changing view points.
