Scaramouche opened its doors in February of 2009 with the group exhibition “The Practice of Joy Before Death; it just would not be a party without you” which brought together an exciting and eclectic group of established and emerging artists living and working in the New York area. While committed to the promotion of artists living and working in the New York area, it is Scaramouche’s mission to introduce artists from around the globe, both established and emerging – often presenting them in their first solo exhibitions in the U.S. The gallery works in a wide variety of media and never shies from the bold or provocative.
