Founded in 1982 by artists and collectors, Andy Warhol and Tom Wolfe among them, the New York Academy of Art is a non-profit educational and cultural institution dedicated to the advancement of figurative painting, sculpture and drawing. The first graduate school in the United States devoted exclusively to the study of the human figure, the Academy fosters values and skills intrinsic to the creation of significant contemporary art.
