Hidden relationships, longtime friendships, communality, fictional identities and situations blurring the barrier between public and domestic — these are the main, statutory highlights of SABOT.
Released under unpredictable circumstances by Daria D. Pervain, our kitchen-born-project is an attempt to verify the raison d’être of a gallery in the third millennium.
In association with Marcel Janco, a Romanian-born, Turin-based art critic and curator, the abstract initiator of Sabot and the gallery’s phantasmal comrade, SABOT embraces curatorial and commercial models without solution of continuity. We raise questions in the inexhaustible territories of the new avant-garde by sabotaging the fundamental division between high and low culture, process and result, art making and curating.
SABOT aims at having an elastic, almost unshaped format, able to take the form of our artist’s views. A project incubator, a generator, moreover an eccentric travesty of a gallery.
By having no constitutional predisposition to things which may become certainties at a certain time, Sabot hopes to avoid all the conventional paths of generating common sense within the art world.
