Livingstone gallery focuses on contemporary painting, drawing and sculpture of international significance. The gallery was established by Jeroen Dijkstra in 1991. Important exhibitions included James Brown, Jannis Kounellis, Sol LeWitt, Arnulf Rainer and the last exhibition of Robert Rauschenberg.
An important priority is the discovery and advancement of young artists such as Daniele Galliano (I), An Hoang (USA), Ryan Mendoza (USA/I), Raquel Maulwurf (E/NL), Melle (de Boer) (NL), Roger Wardin (D) en Jan Wattjes (NL). In order to further this development Livingstone gallery opened a second space at Anna Paulownastraat 70-A in 2005, dedicated to the presentation of young and yet unseen positions.
In 2007 Livingstone changed the first floor at Anna Paulownastraat 70-B into a project room, enabling to veer off from the regular gallery program and jump into unexpected last minute opportunities, like Daniele Galliano’s exhibition ‘Venice’, coinciding with his participation in the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennial or Arnulf Rainer’s last series of etchings ‘The Last Cross’.
With almost twenty years of experience Livingstone gallery continues to confront the new with the established, searching continuity and the experiment.
