THE GOWANUS BALLROOM is an exhibition space located along the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, NY. Once operated as a steel mill in the 1800′s, this 12,000-square-foot space sites beneath 50-foot cathedral ceilings with a 4,000-square-foot mezzanine overlooking the lower gallery. THE GOWANUS BALLROOM is an exhibition space located along the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, NY. Once operated as a steel mill in the 1800′s, this 12,000-square-foot space sites beneath 50-foot cathedral ceilings with a 4,000-square-foot mezzanine overlooking the lower gallery. The space now serves both as a metal fabrication shop that frequently opens its doors to artists and assists or teaches them to build, and as a creative exhibition space that showcases the talents of emerging artists and designers in the Brooklyn area. Shows are commission free, and are aimed at supporting the arts community.
