Photographer Joe Klamar caught some flack for his less-than-flattering portraits of the US Olympic Team.
When David Koren visited Governors Island in 2005, he saw more than an idle mass of land plagued by a federal government deed that prevents permanent housing from being erected there. Instead, he saw a crowning destination for the arts. In 2007 he organized Figment, a participatory arts festival that brought together resources from the island, area artists, and a crazy-cool ethos gleaned from Burning Man in Nevada.
One of Farocki’s most interesting works is Deep Play, which he previously exhibited in New York City’s Greene Naftali gallery in 2008. Deep Play is a multi-channel video installation in which Farocki simultaneously projects real-time length broadcasts of the 2006 FIFA World Cup final from 12 different vantage points.
