With gallerists and artists back from Art Basel Miami Beach, group shows are dominating the final exhibitions of 2011. Zach Feuer brings together work about communication and the mail system by artists including Robert Heinecken, On Kawara, Andy Warhol, Joseph Beuys, and Sophie Calle. Lombard Freid Projects focuses on urban life, and bitforms turns to the natural world with a show titled The Birdwatchers. Postmasters’ Play Station, true to its name, is all about “playable art projects.” Nonprofits are ending the year with holiday-season events like Brooklyn Artists Gym’s 50/50 Fundraiser, where a ticket for admission buys an artwork, and NARS Foundation’s inaugural silent auction, which supports artists and arts education programs.
