Tuca graduated in 1998 from the University of São Paulo with a degree in German language and literature. He has worked as a professional photographer since 1991, and was a reporter and photojournalist for the Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo from 2004 to 2009. Since 2002 Tuca has worked on personal projects relating to cityscapes, architecture and urbanism.
