Manish Vora has finally embraced the artworld by growing his hair long and moving to Williamsburg. Though he loves art, his passion is really in the business of art. He spent many years on Wall Street as an investment banker at Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney and as Director of Research at Moness, Crespi & Hardt before jumping head first into the art world. He particularly enjoys working with a variety of non-profits and causes to help broaden and expand audiences. He is a regular contributor for Artlog on NBC New York. He graduated from Yale University.

The Guild Hall in East Hampton, Long Island is a rare hybrid of art museum, theater, film center, and concert hall all in one. With hopes of attracting younger audiences to the eighty-year-old Hamptons staple, the center has brought in Alec Baldwin, Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio, and two young New York City curators for this summer’s program.

Even though Venus over Manhattan is in the heart of art world bustle on Madison Avenue, the gallery sits in stark contrast to the white walls of its neighbors. The space looks more like a bomb shelter than a place for exhibiting art, which is exaggerated by the fact that its inaugural show, À Rebours (Against Nature), takes place in near-darkness.

Useless Press Release of the Week, Courtesy of Art Platform
Manish Vora |

Thank you Art Platform Los Angeles and A&O PR for the “Useless Press Release of the Week”:

Adam Gross will continue to serve in his role as Executive Director of Art Platform — Los Angeles for the second edition of the modern and contemporary art fair for Los Angeles.

The only useful information in the press release is that the fair, which according to most galleries was an abject disaster in its first year, has moved from the prison that is the L.A. Mart building in downtown LA to the historic Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport.

In other news, we’d like to announce that we will continue to write ARTLOG tomorrow and the day after.
