Call for artist: Tenement Windows Art Space
The Lower East Side Tenement Museum plans to commission an artist to develop, in collaboration with museum staff and students from the Museum’s Shared Journeys ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program, a site-specific art installation. The installation should shed light on the connections between immigrant experiences past and present, illuminating the parallels the Shared Journeys students see between the lives of the residents of 97 Orchard Street and their own experiences as new immigrants. The museum invites proposals from artists whose work will respond to one of the following topics: The Phenomenon of Exile OR Physical and/or Virtual borders/Border Crossing.
