A New App Helps You Sell iPhone Photos for Cash
Tiffany Jow

Calling all amateur photographers! Ever wonder if your iPhone photos could compete with the pros? A new app called Foap thinks so. Founded by two Swedes who were frustrated with crappy stock images, Foap sells user-submitted shots to anyone in need of commercial photos. If your snapshot is chosen, its $10 price tag is split evenly between Foap and your bank account.

Getting in on the action is simple. Photographers upload their raw images (no frames or Instagram filters allowed), add as many tags as possible, and wait for approval from the app’s developers. After getting the green light, the image is put up for sale on the Foap Market. Buyers get rewarded credits for frequent purchases, a price cut for buying in bulk, and can even request specific images from photographers. Foap has only been live for a few weeks and has already seen upward of 10,000 downloads, putting it on track to really shake things up in the stock photo realm.
