Wyatt Neumann has been shooting photographs since he was 8 years old when his mother bought him a kodachrome camera. She told him he could shoot all he wanted as long as he paid for his own film and processing … he cut a lot of lawns and tossed a lot of newspapers.
Shooting now on a variety of formats, ranging from medium and large format professional equipment to digital cameras and even an iphone, it is apparent in his work that it is the moment that matters. His ability to not only capture a scene but to make the viewer feel intimately involved in that moment is testament to both his composition and timing, and the interactions he shares with the subjects. His photographs have been compared to Nan Goldin and Robert Frank, but his style is most certainly all his own.
Wyatt’s work as both photographer and writer/director has been awarded nationally and internationally, but more importantly, he has recently become a doting father. He and his family live between Livingston, Montana and New York City where he can often be seen shooting photographs, kissing his son’s fat cheeks or riding his 1976 Triumph Bonneville at breakneck speeds through the Lower East Side.
