ASK will honor graduating KHS Seniors.
Kingston High School Senior Art students struck out on a new adventure this year with the implementation of Senior Seminar Studio. This program was designed specifically to enhance our art students understanding of themselves as artists through the development of a portfolio that demonstrates their mastery of the visual concepts and techniques they have been focused on for the last four years. The Seminar also provided an opportunity for students to engage in an extended, self directed project and presentation. Our students have truly grown through this process and many of our students are heading to art schools and art programs throughout the United States.
The ASK Show is an opportunity for our community to share in the gifts these students have been developing for the last 4 years and to help them on their way. We are so lucky to have the support of the local arts community, through ASK. Kingston High School Students have been given the opportunity to seem themselves as a vital part of the arts community through the scholarship show. It is the first time that many of the students will see their work hung in a professional space and seen by hundreds in our community.
Three local artists from our community will be invited to judge the student work, in order to award these deserving students scholarships. To date our students have been accepted to Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, School of Visual Arts, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Pratt, Munson-Williams-Proctor, Utica, SUNY, New Paltz, Art Program, Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, Rochester Institute of Technology. These students deserve to be recognized for their hard work and sent off proudly to their future.
