Pace/MacGill and PaceWildenstein are pleased to present recent work (2007-9) by celebrated photographer Richard Misrach. Marking a radical shift from his past work, Misrach’s “Negative” series are his first pictures made without film. Using a state-of-the-art digital camera, Misrach creates ravishing images of landscapes and seascapes using a reversed color spectrum. Light areas become dark spaces – and vice versa – and Misrach’s subjects are transformed into otherworldly yet wholly recognizable places as a result of this process. The photographs range in size from 45 × 70 inches to panoramas measuring nearly 8 × 10 feet.
