In Scott Kildall’s Future Memories birds fly over a factory at dusk; a lone tree stands in the middle of a rippling lake; rain pours against garbage in a deserted alley. These “in-between” shots derive from Hollywood films. The images slip through cracks in our conscious memories, triggering a displaced familiarity. We have seen this before, but we don’t know where.

Kildall’s video is made up thematically of interstitial moments found in films. Moments of transition stitched together to create an extremely evocative, but also extremely open ended anti-narrative; one which creates mood, feeling and atmosphere, but ultimately has no one meaning or concrete narrative.

This is Kildall’s first solo project at the gallery, though along with Victoria Scott he exhibited paper sculptures from their “No Matter” project.
