From Jazz great Benny Carter to legendary soloist Ella Fitzgerald to pop icon Michael Jackson, the Apollo Theater has fostered the careers of the world’s most celebrated performers. Join award-winning singer and actress Leslie Uggams and renowned vocalist and actress Dionne Warwick for an intimate discussion of their musical beginnings and illustrious careers, moderated by Ted Fox, historian and author of the only full-scale history of the Apollo, Showtime at the Apollo: The Story of Harlem’s World Famous Theater (Mill Road Enterprises, 2003, 2nd Ed.). Presented in conjunction with Ain’t Nothing like the Real Thing: How the Apollo Theater Shaped American Entertainment and in collaboration with the Apollo Theater.
