Tony Goldman in collaboration with The Hole is pleased to announce the completion of Phase I of Wynwood Walls. The Wynwood Walls project began December 2009 as a joint production of Tony Goldman, Goldman Properties and Jeffrey Deitch of the now-closed Deitch Projects. Year One saw the execution of twelve murals around the Wynwood district of Miami by influential artists from Asia, Europe, Latin America and the United States. The first “outdoor museum”, this project centered around the beautiful outdoor park area from NW 25th Street to NW 26th Street along NW 2nd Avenue.
This year, Wynwood Walls gets four new murals by key artists that are part of this exciting group: Ryan McGinness, Ben Jones, Dearraindrop and assume vivid astro focus. avaf will also present an installation of their fantastic wallpaper labyrinth in the Wynwood building that their mural adorns, co-produced by Suzanne Geiss and Tony Goldman. The Wynwood expansion will also feature special sculptures by FriendsWithYou and Kenny Scharf, murals by Ron English and Space Invader, Eric Firestone presenting famous 70s graffiti legends, a public sticker wall organized by DB Burkeman, an exhibition of ten street artists curated by Jonathan Levine Gallery in the space next to Joey’s Italian Café and a curated nighttime video presentation each evening at dusk.
To celebrate the completion of Phase I, the opening of the avaf labyrinth and all the collaborating artists and curators that have been an essential part in the creation of this multi-tiered artistic happening, we will be hosting a big public party December 2nd from 8pm to midnight featuring music and performance in the beautiful outdoor park area.
