New Orleans based Red Truck Gallery
kicks off their unique brand of pop-up Outsider and Lowbrow art
exhibitions in New York City November 5, 2009 at 368 Broome Street,
New York, NY 10012 from 6 – 10 pm. Hard Time Mini Mall’s first annual
tour will debut for one month only before traveling to Los Angeles,
D.C., Vancouver, London and Paris. Open October 30th- November 30th
from 11 am – 11 pm daily, this group exhibition features eight
internationally recognized folk, lowbrow, outsider and self-taught
artists.
The exhibition showcases work from emerging and established talent
using an array of mediums and range of styles from artists largely
based in the Southern United States. Noah Antieau, Red Truck Gallery’s
Owner and Director, has a reputation for “keeping it in the family”,
presenting the work of his talented family and friends: Chris
Roberts-Antieau, Ross Bonfanti, Matthew Cox, Bryan Cunningham, Jason
Houchen, Dean Lucker, Frank Relle and John Whipple.
Hard Time Mini Mall’s selected works illustrate a unique curatorial
vision of the Southern persuasion presented in Mr. Antieau’s
classically dense salon-style fashion. The immediacy of this mode of
presentation both brings out the works’ accessibility and the vibrancy
of materials. As if walking into a rural mini mart, the visitor is
engrossed in another world of hard times, blues legends and folk
heroes.
About the Gallery
New Orleans, Louisiana based Red Truck Gallery was founded in 2006 in
the wake of hurricane Katrina by Noah Antieau to showcase the work of
his talented friends and family. The gallery showcases the work of
folk, outsider, visionary and self-taught artists from the Southern
United States and internationally. Having adopted a traveling gallery
model to foster international exposure and share a relaxed take on the
art world, Red Truck Gallery maintains a rigorous touring schedule.
