CHC Gallery is pleased to present emerging fashion designers, Cindy Vargas & Wira Quesada in a week-long fashion exhibit featuring Couture and Ready-to-Wear designs inspired by Marks and gallery artists. This is their first show with the gallery.
Based on the works exhibited in the gallery, the Designers conceptualized garments that would be sculptural yet wearable. Each designer was commissioned to create a Couture dress with a limit of two editions. The designs are a combination of concept and aesthetic. In addition, they were to create a Ready-to-Wear design based off the Couture piece with no limit on production. One edition of each design is exhibited in the gallery.
Consistently art and fashion have influenced one another, at times collaborating on projects and thus materializing the relationship. Vargas and Quesada were friends prior to this current collaboration, both attending the Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) in Miami. Incidentally, both received scholarships from their High School for Fashion Design for furthering their fashion education. Both also found their way to New York, attending the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Living in New York— spending most of their time in the Lower East Side and Brooklyn, Vargas and Quesada have cultivated the hipster-high fashion look and incorporated them into their creations.
