A workshop brought to you by Guillaume Pallat, a French artist/photographer living in Baltimore and Christopher Peregoy, an artist, photographer and professor of alternative processes at UMBC. Guillaume and Christopher will lead you into the mysterious and wondrous world of photography by first entering a massive camera obscura tent. Here participants will begin to explore the basic notion and engineering of the elusive pinhole camera and then apply these principals to their own creations. Recycled and alternative materials will be played with (including but not limited to coconuts, trashcans and suitcases). The second half of the workshop will be spent testing your new alternative camera—taking pictures and experimenting with self-portraiture and landscape photos. You do not have to be a photography expert (in fact we would prefer if you weren’t!) to participate. Families are welcome. Materials will be provided but feel free to bring a special object to build your camera out of and a LUNCH! Members: $50, Non-Members: $75. Pre-registration is required, please call 410.244.1900.
