Lotte Reiniger’s exquisite “Adventures of Prince Achmed” is the world’s first full-length animated film. Composed solely of silhouettes cut-outs, the film was hailed as a breakthrough work of art by Jean Renoir. The screening will be followed by a discussion between Marina Warner (University of Essex, England) and John Isaacs (a friend of Reiniger’s and one of the key figures in the recent restoration of the film). Cocktail reception will follow.
