this is an open call. artists are being asked to donate a work, something to be taken away with no cost. no records will be kept, no check list, no names will be displayed on the walls. not more than 36" in any direction. sculpture must be under 20 lbs. deliver or send to feature to arrive between april 18 and april 30.
at a time when everything costs, this is free.

Power to the People grew out of discussions amongst Feature staff and artists about making a benefit sale for Feature at the time of the gallery having to leave its new home at 276 Bowery as to the recession and the uncertainty of Feature reopening elsewhere. I had some personal and logistical hesitations to the benefit idea, and if it was to occur, April 1, the gallery’s birthday, seemed an appropriate time. When I finally nixed the benefit, end of February, the generosity of artists was such a force to be reckoned with that this idea of extending the generosity directly to the public evolved.
