Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation joins Georges Malaika in their quest to offer education, hope and opportunity to the DRC, especially in the village of Kalebuka, located in Katanga province.
As a result of their research in Congo, students of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation have developed educational models that could revolutionize knowledge sharing processes in the DRC.
Studio MDA unveils the Georges Malaika School’s architectural model, which will set a new standard in educational institutions for Congo, where education suffered because of the protracted war in the region that continues to reign in Eastern DRC.
Expect to hear from special guests Matthew Bishop, New York Bureau Chief for The Economist and author of Philanthrocapitalism: How Giving Can Save the World, and Kahaliah Ali, a dedicated humanitarian and daughter of Muhammad Ali.
This is a free event. Donations to benefit the Georges Malaika Foundation are welcome. RVSP required to: rsvp@gmfafrica.org
