During the third week of Six Feet Under, the world-renowned tattoo artists of New York Adorned collaborate with street photographer Patrick O’Dell to transform the naked bodies of our nation’s apathetic youth into vibrant canvases ready to enter a new day.
O’Dell, a downtown New York-based photographer known for his candid intimacy that keeps the up-too-late, out-too-often scene honest, will supply larger than life photographed nudes to be engraved forever with small reminders of their fleeting innocence. O’Dell photographs fearless people searching for their place in life while New York Adorned will provide the talismans that will get them there.
New York Adorned opened in 1996 when tattooing was still illegal in NYC, confident that NYC could easily support a tattoo shop that created high art for the skin. Today, Nora Jones, Tyson Beckford, Margaret Cho, Christine Aguilera, Samantha Ronson are some of the celebrities that the artists of New York Adorned have tattooed. The East Village location is forever high energy, where people come to have the artists engrave forever, small reminders.
Patrick O’Dell is a downtown New York-based photographer. O’Dell shoots skaters skating, hangers hanging, and party-hard night dwellers doing what comes naturally. Somehow amid all the black eyes, crowded dance floors, beat-up hotel rooms, and beautiful famous ladies, O’Dell manages to peer into the interiors of this exterior oriented scene. This candid intimacy with his subject matter combined with his poetic eye for finding beauty in even the grimiest of scenes give Patrick’s work a natural style that is truly his own.
