Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota will exhibit a monumental architectural installation at Haunch of Venison. She will present a new work made entirely of window frames scavenged from demolition sites in East Berlin after the fall of the Wall. This will be the first time that Shiota has presented this body of work in The United States. Designed with the expansive gallery space in mind, the work invites viewers to enter the delicate structure and look through the windows from various perspectives, evoking nostalgia and memories of the previous owners. Shiota will also exhibit a monumental thread work alongside her signature small thread boxes. Shiota’s exhibition will run concurrently at the gallery with Project Room by Marlène Mocquet, featuring four new paintings and two ceramic works by the artist. Mocquet’s jewel-like paintings gush off of the canvas and depict whimsical and menacing creatures composed using wax and layers of paint.
