Galerie Protégé is pleased to present the work of painter, Paul Thomas. Thomas conceives abstract works on canvas and paper with a primary interest in exploring the relationship between color, form and spatial differentiation. Using thin washes of acrylic pigments against white ground, the artist renders compositions reminiscent of flowing, translucent fabrics of many brilliant colors that capture and refract light. Using contrasting hues of warm and cool along with a highly fluid system of mark-making, Thomas creates works seemingly suffused in radiant light. Unabashedly beautiful in appearance, Thomas’ work is a celebration of the full chromatic expanse and a visual meditation on the pictorial handling of space and color.
Thomas’ work is in public and private collections in the United States, Canada, France and Italy.
