Taken in 2009, Sasha Maslov’s large-scale photographs document the everyday reality of a coal miner living in the Ukraine. Maslov’s low-key, understated approach gives these photographs meaning, adding weight to a point that they become almost monumental.

Sasha Maslov was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Maslov has recently exhibited at Project Fabrika in Moscow and the Ukrainian Art Foundation in Kiev.
