JUDY GELLES, who has a MFA in photography, and LINDA BRENNER, with a BFA in sculpture are working together to create an interactive installation in the Project Room. Entitled “Hopes and Fears”, it features, fingerprints and texts gathered from a daylong residency at Love Park, reflecting the hopes and fears of our time.
TIM EADS uses maps and paint to create work that comments on the bizarre intersection of landscape and industry, influenced by his upbringing in a small west Texas town. Eads received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and has most recently exhibited in Atlanta and Los Angeles.
LEAH FRANKEL’s pieces relate to that which is natural and manmade. Frankel, who received her BFA from the University of Maryland, will present two different styles and media. Her hand blown egg installation, and book sculpture both comment on natural cycles, and the human projection of mathematical patterns, onto that which is natural. She has had many artist in residency fellowships, most recently at the Vermont Studio Center.
LAURA LEDBETTER creates works on paper, with intricately drawn and cut paper appliqué. These pieces focus on issues of uncertainty and surprise that dominate our modern society. The imagined environments seem appealing from a glance, but upon further investigation reveal concern about our cultural and economic position. Ledbetter has her MFA in sculpture from Syracuse University, and her BFA in sculpture from Baylor University in Texas.
JACQUE LIU received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and more recently received a Fulbright scholarship in Berlin Germany. Liu is regularly featured in Philadelphia galleries, as well as other national and international exhibitions. Liu works in a variety of media, and will be presenting drawings on Mylar. This most recent set of pieces will focus on the recent disaster in Japan.
