Since the 1970s, famed artist James Turrell has been secretively building an art complex inside an extinct volcano. Fortunately, sneaking into a remote desert volcano isn’t the only way to see Turrell’s latest work.

Over the summer the artist opened a gorgeous, temple-like “skyspace” at Rice University. Spend enough time in there and you’ll start to question everything you thought you knew about the sky.
