Every year on the second Tuesday in June, the institutions lining the stretch between 82nd to 105th Streets stay open late for the free annual frolic known as the Museum Mile Festival. Today from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., ten museums—the Museum for African Art, National Academy Museum, Museo del Barrio, Museum of the City of New York, The Jewish Museum, the Cooper-Hewitt, the Guggenheim, Neue Galerie, Goethe-Institut (former location at 1014 Fifth Avenue), and The Metropolitan Museum of Art—will take part in the fun. If you’re game, the event kicks off at 5:45 p.m. with an opening ceremony at the National Academy Museum.
