A Moveable Feast in Queens
Tiffany Jow

This week, the train won’t be the only thing running along the 7 line. The fourth-annual Queens Art Express is a borough-wide art/music/food/performance/literature festival presented by the Queens Council on the Arts. Events are pegged in Long Island City, Astoria, Rockaway, and other neighborhoods. Highlights include Wappen Field, a sculpture and sound installation at Michelle Jaffe Studio in Ridgewood, the Leap Dance Project Showcase at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, and Empirical Rouge’s take on Romeo and Juliet. Artists Ran Hwang, Anna Lise Jensen, Carlos Martinez, and Queen GodIs join forces to spearhead the event’s headlining exhibition, What If We Re-Made U.S. Housing Policy?, in which they imagine how to create sustainable housing. A cool new addition to the fest this year is The Moveable Feast, for which local artists team up with area restaurants to create video shorts on their favorite neighborhood hot spots.
