For many of us paint by numbers is a dimly-remembered childhood activity, but for Trey Speegle it was a canon of images open to investigation and reinterpretation. After inheriting hundreds of vintage kits from the former head writer of Saturday Night Live, Speegle has developed an ongoing body of paint-by-numbers-based work and an alternative history of pop art.
